Cyclone Pam

No doubt you’ve been watching the updates on television about the tragedy that has been left in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Pam across Vanuatu.  Our hearts go out to all those affected.

We continue to support the local RSE fruit workers in our local community, many of whom are still waiting to hear news from home, such a very difficult time for our friends and ni Vanuatu family.   Thanks to all those of you who are helping us to provide that support.   We like many, are still waiting to make contact with our ni Vanuatu friends as communications are very  limited at this stage.

Tomorrow a few people from the Nelson community who have links with Vanuatu are getting together to work on some fundraising ideas. Watch our Facebook page for updates.

There are a number of possibilities for us to assist in the recovery of Vanuatu, but whatever we do it will be with the permission of and fit in with the directions of the National Disaster Management Office in Vanuatu.   It goes without saying that any community we assist will be with their input and blessing.  We have close links with a number of communities in Vanuatu who we would like to assist, but it is early days yet and we will continue at this stage, to financially support those humanitarian groups who are doing such a tremendous job on the ground right now.
